... Brothers and Sisters.

I'm torn here. *g*

On the one hand, I really want to work more on some fanart and resources I've been working on all day yesterday, but on the other hand I want to watch more 'Brothers and sisters'. Yes, I've found myself strangely drawn to this show so I decided to watch one episode and of course, one became two and now I'm currently in the middle of 'acquiring' number three.

I just need to see more of it. I really really like it. I'm not obsessed with it like I am with all things SGA, but I'm enjoying every single minute of each episode, like I always enjoy every single minute of 'House'.

What I love most about 'Brothers and sisters' is the way we get to know all these different people and see how they interact with each other. They all have problems, but in the end they're a family.

Also, there's no need to get all hyped up with shipping and slashing, because I'm not shipping or slashing anyone in this show. And I could do it all if I wanted to, because there's a gay character in it. But I don't really want to, because it's about the family in general and their relationships. So, I can just sit back and relax without having to search for fanfic and screencaps. *g*

So yeah, vacation time is the ideal time to dive into another show and simply enjoy the rush of watching another ep.

But now I'm going to work a little more on some fanart, since the DL isn't complete yet. :o)

Oh and the wat_europe post will be posted sometime in the beginning of this week. Don't know when yet, but keep at the lookout for it.

Almost done now!!!! The schoolyear ends at the end of June and then there's a vast ocean of a two month vacation in my future. :) YAY!! No teaching, no preparing lesson plans, no correcting-- just fandom fandom fandom and Glasgow of course. ;)

I set up a new layout for this LJ. I still need to tweak it a little, but overall I really it. I added colours that went with the new header and the top linkbar is my new object of lust. *g*

Anyways, I was tired of working for school yesterday and I decided to try my hand at some real digital painting with my Wacom tablet. I wanted to start small, so I started with a part of my anatomy-- which part? Well-- you'll see. *g* I quite like the result. The skin is a little too blotchy, but overall I like it. I felt like sharing it with the flist, since I'm still quite insecure when it comes to my drawing/painting and I need to get over that.

... never EVER watch 'I am legend' when you're home alone-- after dark. Subsequently, after the movie is finished, don't think: "OMG, I need to relax after that movie, so I'm going to watch a new episode of 'Wire in the Blood'." Because no-- it does NOT work that way.

Hence the reason why I'm sitting here behind my computer, my heart going 100 miles a minute-- too freaked out to sleep-- ever again. *sigh*

Now I desperately need to relax in order to get some sleep, so I'm going to read me some nice McKay/Sheppard, such as sheafrotherdon's 'Farm in Iowa' which is a great success every time. That fic is just made of win-- a real epic romance.

And of course-- I'm going to get my dose of daily German soap by watching some nice 'Verbotene Liebe' clips. Some Christian and Olli is exactly what I need right now-- especially Christian, since he's such a cutie. :o) Yes, the German soap hast mir verswunden. My apologies to every German speaking person out there-- I only took high school German and that's quite some time ago, so yeah-- this is what I can still manage (probably with huge spelling mistakes and grammatical errors):

I've been making icons in my spare time. My muse has been woo'ed by Olli and Christian. For the last couple of months I've also been making icons for some other fandoms and SGA of course, so I might post real soon in le_mot_art.

Also-- I've been horribly neglecting my reel_sga artwork. It's due the 23 of the month and now I still have zilch, nada, nothing, nichts and NIETS! *freaks out*

As for real life-- I still have a gazillion tests to correct. Tests I'm studiously ignoring as they're glaring at me from across the room. *sigh*

Thank God for fandom. It's the best thing to just forget about RL for a while. :o) Don't you just love it? *g*

It's been so long since I've properly updated that I feel horribly guilty of neglecting the flist. There are a lot of reasons why I haven't updated as much though. One of them is the amount of real life work I had to do. But I'm not in the mood to talk about that right now. Let's talk about the fun stuff that's kept me busy lately:

1) I've been very busy with creating my SGA John/Rodney fanart for the paintedspires challenge. Thank you to everyone for the wonderful responses. :o)

2) This one is tricky, since it seems that I've fallen in love with a German soap called 'Verbotene Liebe' (Forbidden love). I totally blame aurora_84 though. :o) She introduced me to Olli and Christian-- two German soap characters whom are currently madly in love. Of course, Christian had a girlfriend and found himself falling for another man, which confused him greatly. And Olli fell in love with 'straight' Christian, despite knowing very well that Christian wasn't into guys. Right... *g* Ah, the boykissing you guys-- so wonderful. There's a whole playlist (subtitled in English) on YouTube with all the Olli/Christian parts that are interesting, but the most interesting part -for me- is this one:

The beginning might be confusing, because you haven't seen the rest of the storyline, but towards the ending it's aaaaall good. *g* I get goosebumps everytime I see them kissing. Christian is so fragile and responsive towards Olli. After all his denial he really craves for him and wants him, he's just not sure how to handle his newfound gay-ness (well, bisexual-ness really). But, seriously, I love living in Europe and being a European where it's quite normal for gay men to kiss and make out on a TV-show. :o)

3) I think I'm slightly drunk. I just looooove Belgian beer! Go Palm Royal!!!! *g*

4) I've been following 'American Idol' on YouTube and I really like David Cook. He's got a strong voice and he's very original in the way he performs famous songs. But OMG, I've got a total crush on Jason Castro. He's just so Grrrrrr! He might not have the best voice, but still-- he's got something special. I have to confess that I hate that David Archuleta guy-- he's incredibly boring whenever he sings. His voice is nothing special.

5) I've also been following 'I'd do anything' on BBC. You know, the show where they search for a new Nancy and Oliver for the West End musical 'Oliver' and in the end Andrew Lloyd Webber chooses who is leaving the competition. I started watching for John Barrowman, who's in the jury, but now I've ended up rooting for some of these girls-- genuinly interested whether or not they'll make it. I'm glad that Francsesca is out though-- I could never understand what she was singing. She sang well, but I couldn't understand her most of the time. The only complaint I have is with the girl's dresses. Please, whomever is in charge of their wardrobe-- sack him/her. Most of the time they look horrible in those hideous dresses.

6) I've also been busy with thinking of starting some evening classes in 'something that has to do with computers', starting September. These classes would be to get an extra diploma. I just can't keep going like this-- working like crazy but never being sure whether or not I'll have a job in the same school. I really hate the system. I love to teach, but I have so much work and added stress these days that I just feel the need to do something else with my life. I'm not sure yet whether or not this feeling will persist though. I'm not sure about anything job-wise right now.

7) Planning the fangirl-trip to Glasgow-- which has resulted in hotel bookings! YAY! Everything is booked. This Summer I'll meet up with fellow fangirls to discuss the beauty of slash. *g*

I really want to update more often. It felt really good to tell all of you what's going on in my life right now. Don't think that I don't read what's going on in your life-- I do and I really do care. I just don't have enough time to respond to everyone's posts.

I had tons and tons of work to do today and tonight I just relaxed my over-worked brain by reading fanfic and watching SGA and I observed something that I've known for a loooong time now, but still I'd like to share it again with you:

JOHN SHEPPARD IS SIZZLING HOT!!!!!!!! HE MAKES MY BLOOD BOIL!!!!!!!!

I'm just filled with renewed appreciation of the complete GUH-ness of this man. Joe Flanigan is hot-- yes, but when he plays John Sheppard he's just completely gorgeous.

No wonder Rodney and everyone else in the Pegasus and Milky Way galaxy lusts after him. I mean, let's face it-- if I were on Atlantis, I'd probably be upgraded to John Sheppard's personal stalker. *g*

What attracts me in this guy is his eyes, his smirk, his body... The way his eyebrows arch and the way his hair seems to defy all the laws of Physics. I just-- mmmmmmmmm, what a man. ;o) I can never seem to get enough of him.

Please, feel free to share in my glow here and tell me all about WHY you find John so sizzling HOT! I'm sure it'll be a hardship for most of you. *smirks*

Ow ow ow-- this update will be very very short. The stress of packing has given me a killer-migraine that only enables me to see one half of my computer screen.

Tomorrow morning at 9.20am I leave for New York. I'll be back next Tuesday, somewhere in the afternoon. I probably won't be able to update when I'm there, so expect an update when I'm back.

Hi guys! Yes, I'm still alive. :o) My life is crazy right now-- so many things that I have to do and no time to do it all. Work is my main focus. So here's a short update:

* To all the people that sent me emails over the last couple of days-- I will reply, I promise. I just haven't found any time to do so, so far. So please be patient. *hugs you all*

* To the people that are waiting for some requested fanart-- I'm working on it, don't worry. :o) When I have some time to myself I relax by working in Photoshop, so the fanart will be posted. I haven't forgotten.

* wat_europe will be updated asap, I promise. Either tonight or tomorrow afternoon. :o)

Also, I have a question. I saw newkidfan's post about graphic tablets and I figured this was the right time to ask. I'm thinking of buying a tablet, because it would be so much easier to use with graphic software than a mouse. And generally speaking, I'd like to get better in the graphic arts, but right now the limitations of the computer mouse is bothering me. I can't do all the things that I want to do.

The problem is that I don't really know much about graphic tablets. I've done some research, but I still have a lot of questions. The price-range is enourmous, the functions vary from tablet to tablet and I'm not sure what is best. Basically, it's about the requirements of a tablet-- what would be a good tablet to use? If you have any tips and suggestions on graphic tablets I'd appreciate the input. It'll be vital for me to decide which tablet to buy. Thanks. :o)

ETA: practical question-- are the dimensions of your computerscreen important when one buys a tablet? (As you can see, I'm a total nitwit when it comes to tablets)

Yeah, I know-- everyone's posting about it and it seems kind of silly to repeat it here, but I needed to get this out of my system.

First Brad Renfro and now Heath Ledger-- what is it that makes young successful people so unhappy sometimes, whether it was suicide or an accidental overdose. I don't care-- these circumstances scream unhappiness.

Heath Ledger was my age, 28. And now he's just-- poof-- gone. I grew older with this guy. I remember his first movies and how he became more popular through the years. I saw it all and now... It's so freaky, a 28-year old guy who seemingly had it all: bucket-loads of talent, success, good looks, a little girl...

Once again proof that success and fame don't always make one happy.

It's so bizarre-- I woke up this morning, turned on the radio and heard the news and the first thing I did was dig out my Brokeback Mountain DVD. I love that movie so much, partly because his interpretation of Ennis Del Mar is so amazingly perfect.

So sad. He will be missed, by the bigger public for his talent. By his family, daughter and friends for the person he was.

Shit-- I hate it when these things happen. I didn't really know this guy in reality, but I did KNOW him from his acting and the way he's always just been around-- you know?

I have a question for the flist. All you SGA fangirls out there-- I'm looking for high definition pics or screencaps of Rodney McKay/David Hewlett. I need detailed images for an art-project, but I can't find any where he looks natural. Most high def pics are promo pics and he never really looks comfortable in those.

If you happen to know a place/places where there are also high def pics of the other characters/actors or if you have some of those pics, please let me know too. I just don't have enough detailed pictures of these people and it drives me crazy.

Well, things have calmed down a little and I'm happy about that. The biggest drama is over and I'm very sorry that I have been complaing about shitty things the last couple of days. I just needed to vent and LJ is the perfect place to do that.

Today, I'm only going to speak about fun stuff. YAY! I just love all the fluffy Christmas fic that's appearing everywhere. It fills me with glee and real holiday spirit. :o)

I finished another drawing. It's much more detailed this time. Again, it's Joe Flanigan, because I really wanted to see if I could also draw him for real. The previous portrait was only a sketch and this one is much more a drawing. It's not made in my sketch-book, but on a real sheet of drawing paper. I went all out last week and bought all kinds of drawing supplies, since the ones I still had were already 10 years old. I just wanted some new material to start afresh.

I didn't want to deny you guys the result, because I got so many hugs and kisses the last couple of days that I think you deserve some love-- and what better love than bushy-haired Joe Flanigan in a graphite pencil version? *g*

First of all-- thank you eviltish, dragontatt, inanna_ishtar and nekosmuse for the lovely Christmas cards and the letter. :o)

Your cards were supposed to be posted yesterday, but instead they'll be posted one of these days-- I promise. Life is just a little hectic right now.

I got kicked out of the lantis_lims competition today. I deserved it too-- I hardly put any time in the icon I created and it wasn't all that good. What goes around, comes around. *g* Ah well, I won the previous round of that lims, so I'm not too upset about it.

Now, as some of you might or might not know-- I used to draw a lot when I was younger. I went to the art academy in the weekend and at nights and I carried my sketchbook with me where ever I went. About 9 years ago, I just stopped doing that-- I stopped drawing anything. I haven't drawn anything since then. Well, nothing that really mattered anyway. This weekend I got all stressed out and I needed to relax. Suddenly I just felt like digging up the old sketchbook and drawing something or someone. I browsed in my 'images' folder and finally decided to do a portrait.

I want you guys to see the result of this drawing-session, because I'm planning on doing some more drawing. It might not be that good, but keep in mind that I haven't really picked up a pencil and drawn anything in 9 years. Also, this was done in a couple of hours, so I didn't spend too much time tweaking it. It's rough and raw and it probably needs some more polishing, but it's a only a sketch, so I figured I could get away with it.

I'm thinking of posting this in le_mot_art, just for the fun of it, but I wanted to see what you guys thought first. I won't post it in le_mot_art if anyone thinks it's absolutely hideous.

OKay, I was supposed to do a lot of other things, as you can read in my previous post-- but instead I listened to my fellow-fangirls and I just decided to sit down to watch the last four SGA eps in one go. I have many many many things to say about 'Tabula Rasa', 'Missing' and 'The Seer', but for now I just need to say this about 'Miller's Crossing':

Hi everyone *waves* How are you all doing?

It's been a while since I updated last, so I decided to go for it now.

I finished the mini_nanowrimo challenge yesterday and I was able to write something every day of November. I'm very happy about that. I set out to complete this challenge and I succeeded. You can find all the entries under the fic: mini_nanowrimo tag.

Thank you to the wonderful anonymous person who bought me the lovely virtual nano-banner, proudly displayed in my userinfo. Whoever you are, tons of smooches are coming your way. I really appreciate it!

I have a confession to make-- I still haven't watched any of the last eps of SGA. The last one I saw was 'Travelers'. I just wanted to focus on nano, work and some Photoshop stuff and I just never felt like watching TV. But now the urge to watch is starting to stir again. I heard a lot of good things about 'Miller's Crossing', so I want to see that, but first I have to start with 'Tabula Rasa'. Frustrating thing is that I might not have enough time this weekend to just sit down and watch SGA. *grrrr* When I've seen the eps, I'll post some review about them-- a little late, yes, but still--

Even though I still have some eps to watch, I'm more in love with SGA and John/Rodney than I've ever been and it's a nice heady feeling to be that in love with fandom again.

Okay-- now I'm off to do some work for my secret santa SGA fanart. Expect more updates from me from now on. I'm not saying 'daily', but 'more often'. :o)
